Expressing their feelings

Updated: Dec 31, 2018

January 29 2018

This month we kicked off a project we’re really excited about, giving the refugees an outlet to express their feelings about the experiences they have faced and overcome to get to a place we hope is safe.

We held the first session of a seven-week programme giving the refugees the opportunity to create original songs, perhaps reflecting their journey so far or focusing on their hopes for the future.

We hope that this process will help our refugee friends to start to come to terms with their experiences but also show them that they can open themselves up and learn that they are wanted here and they can make a new life in a new country.

We were able to offer this wonderful opportunity thanks to #MusicInDetention. The sessions are being led by Johanne Hudson-Lett assisted by Besh W. Walker #FORmusic2018

Perhaps we shall be able to share the fruits of their labours with you in a few weeks time!
